Deputy abused disabled man

Associated Press
Feb. 16, 20008
TAMPA, Fla. - A Florida sheriff's deputy who was videotaped dumping a paralyzed man out of his wheelchair onto a jailhouse floor has turned herself in.

Jail records show Charlette Marshall-Jones was booked into the Orient Road Jail early this morning.

It is the same jail where Marshall-Jones worked. She is accused of tipping 32-year-old Brian Sterner out of his wheelchair and searching him on the floor. He had been brought in on a charge of fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer after a traffic violation.

The Hillsborough County deputy has been charged with one count of felony abuse of a disabled person. She was released after posting $3,500 bail. An attorney for Marshall-Jones listed in jail records did not immediately return a phone message.

Along with the assault charge she should be charged with a hate crime. The other deputy involved with the searcing the man should be charged as an accessory!

I'm sooo against filing frivalous lawsuits but this one needs it badly. I hope that woman gets her just deserts and spends some time in jail for this. What an outrage. I might understand her questioning the man's ability to drive and yet stating he is unable to stand but to dump him from his wheelchair is unbelievable itself. Then she doesn't even act remorseful of her actions and instead of profusely apologizing to the man she puts on gloves and frisks him. Put her in jail and label her orange suit - "COP".

Finally... an officer not getting a paid holiday over abuse of power or authority. Go figure though, she's a black woman?
Had the situation been reversed Rev Al Sharpton wouldn't been calling racism from the get go. Anyway, I'll take justice where it can be got.

Isn't this ironic. I recognize that is wrong but the police will defend the murder of young black men murdered by police but they toss this woman under the bus for dumping a white man on the ground. Nothing would have happened if this individual had been black. Racism is everyone.
